It appears that Lou Dobbs has finally had enough of the far lefts tactics of delaying or demonizing any immigration reform by defining it as racist.



I just love how the Democrat tries to sound reasonable by agreeing with the idea behind the bill all the while trying to come up with some reason why it shouldn't be enforced. It's the same logic they use every time a bill is put forward to put a stop to voter fraud.

In both cases the solutions are pretty straight forward and easy to implement, but also in both cases, the Democrats (and to be fair many Republicans), don't actually want to do anything about it. They'd rather just leave well enough alone.

I think there's a word for a type of government where every aspect in your life, including when and for what reasons you go to the doctor, are dictated to you; fascism.

A lesson in journalism

It's always nice to see one reporter take another to task for the sorry state of affairs modern journalism has become but when Fox's Chris Wallace schools PBS's Bill Moyers the lesson seems all the more sweet by Wallace's matter of fact style.

A White House Wedding?

So it's official, Jenna Bush, one half of the sometimes infamous 'Bush Twins' has anounced her engagement to Henry Hager, son of prominent Virginia politician John Hager.

For most people that would be good news but some people are having a little bit of trouble getting over their BDS to wish the long time couple well (though amazingly the commentors at Think Progress have actually jumped to her defense, at least somewhat).

What is blatantly apparent is most on the far left have been caught in some kind of time warp, completely fixated on the past image of the Bush's as party girl socialites, a la Paris Hilton, something that hasn't really been an issue since sometime in 2001 when Jenna was caught trying to use a fake ID to buy alcohol; stupid to be sure, but hardly a life defining moment for a 19 year old college student.

As far as I know most Hilton wannabes don't teach at a Public Charter schools in DC for a year and a half or intern at UNICEF where Jenna spends her much of her week teaching at shelters throughout Latin America.

So congrats to the happy couple and best wishes to a happy life together.

Bad news for Democrats

If they can't depend on their friends at the New York Times to 'interpret' all the recent news out of Iraq since the surge began then who can they depend on.



Could this be a sign of a change in the coverage of the war?

Imagine a world where reporters actually travel to the front lines to report what they see as opposed to sitting behind their desk depending entirely on second hand accounts (often not even bothering to do the slightest fact checking) or reporting out of hotel rooms in the green zone just so they can add the "Live from Iraq" banner on the screen.

That's the percentage of journalists who have given money to the Democratic party (as opposed to the Republican party) since 2004. But of course, just because they vote and donate liberal at at 9:1 ratio doesn't mean they ever let their personal beliefs influence their on air reporting, or so their far left defenders keep telling us.

Politicians on the other hand, if even given a free lunch by an executive when discussing trade deals is in the pocket of big business for all eternity, or so these same people say.

The funniest part, this research was done by MSNBC, by far the most left leaning of all the cable news channels.

A follow up to: Democrats vote to destroy democracy

The National Republican Senatorial Committee has put up a new video on YouTube in response to the Democrats push behind their bill to demolish a workers right to a secret ballot when deciding to unionize or not.

It's a pretty powerful piece of political campaigning made all the more effective by the fact that the only people seen and heard in the ad are the Democrats themselves.

Give them points for trying

Sure, they might have been responsible for the deaths of 2 million Cambodians, 40 million Chinese, 1.7 million Congonese (?), 6 million Jews and countless soviets but all those other fascist dictators had one thing over George Bush, they cared about their country.

At least that's the argument being put forward by Huffpo contributer Peter Mehlman and to no ones great surprise, there are very few Huffpo commentors pointing out the sheer lunacy of his statements but instead they are climbing over each other to agree and compliment his thinking.

You could almost laugh it all away except for the fact that within the next 18 months these same people will have a hand in choosing who the next President of the United States will be.

Democrats vote to destroy democracy

How is this story (by way of Captain's Quarters) not leading off the news segments of the morning news shows?

You have blatant vote buying of politicians by a group that often uses tactics on par with organized crime; in fact the two groups have very strong historical ties. The legislation in question has no redeeming value for the electorate and it violates one of the most basic tenets of democracy.

Could it have anything to do with the fact this violation of the peoples trust is being proposed by the Democrats? I'm sure the MSM wouldn't be that obvious in their bias would they?

You'll notice that even though they report it, the New York Times does their best to make this open sign-up bill as a positive move for workers because as we all know, having to write your name on a card voting for union leadership could never possibly be used against you, union people being so loving and forgiving and all.

Sicko

I'm not the biggest Michael Moore fan out there, but I decided to give his latest movie Sicko a shot. For the first 30 minutes Moore manages to actually make a pretty good documentary. He does this by focusing mainly on peoples individual horror stories with their HMO's as well as showing Insurance company insiders explaining how things work.

It isn't until he begins to ask the question "Who invented this system?" that the movie moves from strict documentary into the realm of the Michael Moore documentary with it's half truths, misdirection and selective facts.

Even without doing some independent research to expose his 'mistruthes', Moore's editing tricks are quite easy to see for those who are looking. For instance, any part way observant person will notice that when Moore and his boatload of 9/11 rescue workers face off against the guard towers at Gitmo it only shows his face when he is calling out (quite softly for an attempt to talk to a tower several hundred yards away) to the towers to let in the workers for medical attention. When he picks up his bullhorn and yells out the more challenging statements about them only wanting the same care as the US is giving the 'evil doers' you will notice the camera quickly pans to someone else on the boat, never actually showing him say those things. The odd way the camera avoids Moore only when he is supposedly making these more inflammatory statements very strongly implies to those of us who have read up on Moore's previous antics, that the audio you hear is more the result of some post production sound editing than any live recording.

I'm just amazed how someone can make a documentary on a topic like health care in the US, a system most people will admit is highly problematic, and actually make someone come out with sympathy for the HMO's, but Moore does. If he had kept up with the flow of the original 30 minutes he could have made a very powerful movie that with all the exposure normally afforded him, could have had the potential to foster actual change, but instead he resorts back to his old tricks and creates enough holes in his arguments that any defenders of the current American system could drive a semi through sideways.

I guess like most Moore documentaries this ones gets a 4 for looks but a 1 for substance.

Time for Lucifer to sharpen his Ice Skates

Hell is on it's way to sub-zero temperatures.

I'm linking this because you're not likely to see it's like again any time soon, but here is a link (h/t to HotAir) to a Democratic blog that actually makes sense.

It starts out normal enough, with an attempt at a dig at Republican Presidential hopeful (though not official) Fred Thompson, but somehow, and I'm sure to the bloggers surprise, the rational wing of the Democratic party (and yes, while mostly silenced and marginalized they do exist) manages to take control of the thread and debate the issues, and lo' and behold, they consensus seems to be Fred was right.

It's only a small thread with a hand full of comments but it's a start.

If anything this attempted attack may have pushed a few middle of the road Dems over to the Thompson camp. For a guy who hasn't even offically announced yet he seems to be doing pretty good for himself. Maybe he should just wait till the actual voting day to officially announce his candidacy. With the way things have been going by that time his popularity may be up in the high 80's.

Elizabeth strikes back

For reference sake, here's the show they were talking about and much like the latest episode Rosie seems to have an issue answering anyone's question, even her own. Her ability to open her mouth and shout down everyone without a single coherent thought coming out is truly astounding.



And for the record when someone poses the quest "Who are the real terrorists?" with the preface that 650,000 civilians are dead in Iraq after the US invaded (a number throughly debunked on many sites across the blogosphere including here and Iraq Body Count) it hardly takes a great leap of logic or a conservative bias to link the two. They were part of the same sentence for crying out loud.

Well if one good thing could be said about Rosie's tenure on The View, besides the fact that it is coming to a end, it's that somehow in all her shouting, mud slinging, anti conservative ranting she's managed to push Elizabeth to speak out in a much stronger voice.

Lines in the sand

I can't find video of Hannity and Colmes from last night but I was mildly shocked to see that finally Alan Colmes had found a topic that he considers taboo for discussion on collage campuses.
So far I've have seen him support the importing of terrorists/terrorists sympathizers to talk to large college crowds, antisemitc professors praising Hezbollah, and a myriad of other extremists who regularly appear all over university campuses across America to help broaden young students minds but finally he has found a group of people too extreme to permit on campus; dissenters of the Goreacle and his "we are the problem" Global Warming crusade.

In a story that should frighten any open minded person, a professor in Roger Williams University made the movie, "An Inconvenient Truth" a required part of the curriculum and to add insult to injury, did not allow for any opposing opinions to be presented. This is attempted indoctrination at it's most obvious and as Alan made clear last night, it's working. His attempt to defend the professor's actions basically came down to, since everyone agrees with Gore's take on global warming there is no reason to debate it, a stance that was disproven by his own guests who provided names of several well respected researchers and scientists who disagree with Gore's theories.

The idea that "An Inconvenient Truth" stands as an undisputed work is something that many on the dedicated left have taken up as a cause and the MSM always wanting to help out their ideological comrades have done their best to help. But even when they're trying to help they do slip up a little. Take this AP story for example. Although it touts that a consensus of scientists agree the movie is accurate as it's main headline (a grand total of 19 who all appear to be in the global warming field which stands to lose several billion dollars if it is determined no crisis exists) even within the article itself there is disagreement with the movie. My favorite quote, which has been repeated in one form or another by several scientists when praising Al Gore's :

The tiny errors scientists found weren't a big deal, "far, far fewer and less significant than the shortcoming in speeches by the typical politician explaining an issue,"

So in other words, "we'll just ignore the inaccuracies for the greater good".

A perfect example of a insignificant error was Gore's linking of global warming to hurricanes such as Katrina. Some of the most respected hurricane experts in the world have publicly stated that Global Warming has little or no impact on the number or veracity of hurricanes but yet that is one of the main images used to push Gore's agenda.

I'm a bit surprised that a theory with such an overwhelming consensus as to be determined fact according to so many on the left, including Mr. Colmes (and a growing number of people on the right but with less religious furor), has such a long list of highly qualified doubters. But of course, for those poor student at RWU, those opposing viewpoints are of so much "less significant" weight than a failed Presidential hopefuls as not to even warrant discussion, and Alan's just fine with that.

Truthers in the Media

Well it appears Eric Margolis isn't the only one off his meds at The Sun these days. Today's article by John Gleeson (Winnipeg Sun Editor) sees Eric's normal anti-Bush rants and one ups it. In todays Sun Gleeson tries to give a voice to the 9/11 'truth' movement, quoting several of their most outspoken leaders, and treats them as if their opinions are anything more than speculation built off of wild assumptions and carefully cherry picked facts.

In his defense of their position that the various World Trade Center buildings were taken down by controlled demolitions he leaves out some very important facts. The first is that out of this group of Scholars for 9/11 Truth, exactly 3 have engineering degrees and of those 3, zero are considered any sort of expert on controlled demolitions. In his own article, of the three scholars he quotes one is a theology professor another a philosophy professor and even the physics professor, Steven Jones, which incidentally is not the source of the highlighted quote about the collapse defying physics (that was the Philosophy prof), works in the field of theoretical physics dealing with cold fusion.

He also leaves out the portion where this group of universities finest have been unable to even decide what was the cause of the collapse, conventional explosives somehow secreted into all the buildings, a micro-nuke that produces no radiation or a high powered energy beam; all theories put forward by this esteemed group. Also of note, this group of the worlds brightest has been unable to get any of their 'papers' past the peer review process and published anywhere except for a 9/11 conspiracy journal.

All these points are strangely absent from Gleeson's post as it would probably pull the rug out from under his theory that 9/11 was an inside job to give the idiot/genius Bush (I lost my lefty decoder ring so I'm not sure what he is today) and his evil empire (which according to more and more people on the left is actually controlled by some evil Jewish conglomerate) an excuse to attack Afghanistan; a high profile target at the center of Bush's plan to take over the world which should be so obvious the details of which never have to be explained.

Oddly enough he does mention the Popular Mechanics article which thoroughly debunks pretty much every claim made by this group of ivory tower conspiracy nuts though he does it in such a way as to imply they are in on Bush's evil plan.

You better watch out Eric, looks like someone is gunning for you position as #1 Anti-Bushite at the Sun.

The Pic That Launched a Thousand Rants!

This story over at Michelle Malkin's is just hilarious and at the same time a perfect example of RDS, a strain of the much more viral BDS.

Seriously, generating controversy and making an insane conspiracy mainstream on the left these days has about the same degree of difficulty as playing "peek-a-boo" or "watch the keys" with a 6 month old.

Credit where credit is DU

My thoughts and prayers go out to Tony Snow and his family on news that it has been confirmed that his cancer has returned.

And for one of the first times I've seen (and thanks to HotAir for first bringing this to light), he's even receiving sympathy from the dedicated Left posters at the DU.

I'm beginning to wonder if this could be a first step in a return to a more civilized political climate in which the two major sides return to a time when it was understood that even though they may disagree on issues, that does not make the other side evil. It's only sad that it took the almost simultaneous announcements of this devastating disease hitting both a prominent Democratic and Republican family to start things moving in that direction.

The Compassionate Left (again)

First there was Cheney explosion story and throngs of 'liberals' climbed all over each other to condemn the would be assassins; mostly for their bad aim.

Now we have a story about former President Bush collapsing from dehydration while golfing (why he was out in 94 degree weather is a story all unto itself) and once again their love knows no bounds. Out of 5 pages of comments the number of well wishers could be counted on one hand with fingers to spare, and they were mostly from conservative readers daring to show their heads on the increasingly ultra-leftwing Huffpo.

Now compare that to how news of Tim Johnson's medical condition was received by the right side of the blogosphere. While the topic did focus on the political ramifications no one wished the man or his family harm, in fact people even got angry about how quick the AP was in focusing on the political aspects instead of his illness. And on the Johnson front, it's nice to see that he's moved out of the hospital and into a recovery facility and is still able to work, although I'm sure his family and caretakers are limiting him as much as possible.

Or for a more direct comparison,look at reactions to Clinton's hospitalization for chest pains. Although the AP did try to create a story to make it look like Republicans did wish him ill.

It's just another example of how most left wingers let their emotions rule their actions, with no regard for common decency. When a liberal says he hates an opponent he generally really means he hates them. Their hate is a highly emotional response which suppresses all logical thought.

When a conservative says they hate their opponent they almost always mean they disagree with their ideology and probably think of them as hard headed. While they may not like the person and want to sit down and 'chat' they rarely wish them any real harm.

To Former President Bush and Senator Johnson, I wish you both a full recovery.
