Most Ridiculous Item of the Day

I know it's a blatant rip off of the O'Reilly Factor but I couldn't think of anything else to sum up this story over at LGF.

The gist, because Muslims consider pigs to be unclean animals, the management at some office in England has banned Winnie the Pooh.

Of course that's just my summary, they aren't banning Winnie the Pooh directly (he is just a bear after all), just everything that has the image of or is shaped like a pig, that just happens to include a Winnie the Pooh & Piglet tissue box.

Ever notice that in the PC world, "tolerance of people's beliefs" is always used as a way of limiting someone else freedoms. Shouldn't tolerance be a two way street? I don't come over to your office to eat my ham sandwiches, you don't come over to mine to take away my pig shaped stress ball.

Use some common sense folks.

Update:
Jeff adds his 2 cents.

So Piglet is a big deal and must be removed?
Guess what folks LASSIE is an even BIGGER DEAL to Muslims are we NOW going to remove all evidence of what our Society calls Man's Best Friend from view because to a Believing Muslim

The impurity of dogs is the greatest of animal impurities

Umm isn't this parallel to the Christian right's stance that gay people must be purged form TV as well as all references to sex, drugs, and independant thinking ;) (I added this last part for fun). Am not defending the position, I'm just saying that it's equally reprehensible when Christians do it.

Also side note. This isn't being PC this is being idiotic.

And when exactly was the last time that any major organization bent over backwards to try and appease the Christian right. And I'm not talking about when it is the economically smart thing to do, ie. they want to appear more pleasing to the sizable percentage of the North American population that claim to be Christian, but cases where a single Christian makes a demand that the company then makes law, like say no one taking the Lords name in vain on company grounds.

This is about actual actions taken and not some hypothetical reality.

And you really don't want to get into the debate about independant thinking do you? Have you ever noticed what happens to someone on the liberal side of the spectrum who dares go against party lines? It's like watching hyenas going after a carcas the way fellow 'liberals' quickly turn on them. Sure some allow for some variation of opinion, but if you break ranks on the big issues, you are likely to be torn to shreds.

My point was you shouldn't categorize this as "left wing" because it's not. It's sheer stupidity. Please no jokes about how the two concepts are identical lol.
