Cindy Sheehan - Jailhouse Rock

So 'Mother' Sheehan has finally managed to get herself back into the headlines. Today, in an attempt to grab the attention she has repeatedly shown she so desires, she staged a protest in front of the White House with the sole purpose of getting herself arrested. Just look at the smile on her face as she get carried away by a couple of DC's finest. Ah the face of grief.

And don't forget, this is the women who has already publicly stated that she was glad the President didn't meet with her (for a second time) because it would have taken away her buzz and that the press have been paying too much attention to hurricanes (or as she puts it "a little wind and a little rain") and not enough to her.

I'm not saying she should be crying every moment of the day of anything, but when you travel back and forth around the country claiming to be motivated by the memory of your dead son (who volunteered to join the Army, TWICE I might add), I just don't think the party atmosphere she seems to be surrounding herself with, and enjoying to the fullest by all appearances, fits with the somber tone of her supposed mission.

Of course, as many on the far left have figured out by now, those of us who share that belief or would dare speak out about Ms. Sheehan's disgraceful behavior or statements are all members of the Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy paid for in full from the KKKARL Rove Fund for Friendly Bloggers.

Hey don't worry Karl, this ones a freebie.

I don't understand your aversion to the woman. Let her say/do whatever she wants. It's her right.

My aversion is based on her using her sons memory to glorify herself and her cause.

Her son obviously did not agree with her view of the war (she was actively anti-war long before anything happened to him) as he re-enlisted at the age of 23 with the full knowledge that he would most likely end up in Iraq. That was his choice to make and he made it. He was not a child duped into joining as she has at times tried to portray him. He was a man with a strong sense of duty and honor.

Now his mother is using him, apparently against the wishes of several of her own family members, to push her political agenda, an agenda that he himself did not appear to agree with, and the media is all to happy to help.

If you actually read some of the stuff she says you would see that she is as far left as you can get (calling the insurgents "freedom fighters", claiming Israel is one of the root causes of all the troubles in the Middle East (and we have seen how well them trying to give control to the Palestinians has worked so far, calling for the President to pull out of "Occupied New Orleans") but in almost all articles her more outragous quotes are cut and she is simply referred to as the mother of a soldier who was KIA in Iraq.

Simply put, she is, as other people have put it, a media-whore, and while that's not necessarily a bad thing (Lord knows there are enough of them out there from all sides of the ideological spectrum), they way in which she does it is disgusting. Trading on the sympathy people automatically feel for a grieving family member to push your political beliefs, especially where all indicators point to the dead family member not sharing those beliefs, is dispicable.

I'm not going to stop her from talking, but just as it is her right to say what she believes, it is my right to point out how much I dislike the women, her tactics and those that actively support her.
